Andrew helps clients obtain finance, protect innovation and solve critical challenges throughout the lifecycle of their business. Andrew is a lawyer with over 15 years post-Call experience. His clients include publicly traded companies, private companies at all stages and large private equity interests. He acts for clients in mining, tech, energy, ag, aviation, aerospace and other sectors. For some mining and other projects requiring a large team, Andrew practices in association with Canadian Mining Advisors.
In recent years, Andrew has played a pivotal role in transactions worth as much as $250M US. He has a background in government, politics and private enterprise, which allows him to take a practical approach and solve problems using a much wider lens than the typical legal practitioner.
Andrew is licenced in both Manitoba and Ontario (LSO 2005). He holds Certificates in P3s and Mining Law from Osgoode Hall PD and an LL.M. in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School (2004). Andrew graduated with degrees in the civil and common law from McGill University (B.C.L. & LL.B. 2002).
The Province of Manitoba named Andrew as the sole Manitoba mining attorney on their Manitoba Liaison Committee on Mining and Exploration. This Committee will advise the Manitoba government on the future of the strategic mining sector and ways to grow mining investment. Manitoba also named Andrew their Vice Chair for the Expert Advisory Council on the province’s climate and green plan.
Andrew is the only member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation West of Toronto and East of Alberta. Andrew is a past co-Chair of the Manitoba Bar Association's Securities Law Section and past Chair of the Manitoba Bar Association's Environmental, Energy and Resources Law Section. He was co-Chair of the 2018 CBA National Environmental, Energy and Resources Law Conference which Andrew helped bring to Winnipeg. He has recently spoken on mining finance and tech company finance transactions. He is an ideal attorney for American and overseas companies seeking to invest in Canada.
Andrew's lean, tech-oriented services can be easily scaled to include as large or small a team as needed. Andrew has been married for almost 20 years and enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, running and lifting weights when he is not practicing law.
